In a very entertaining London GAA Senior Hurling Championship Final last Sunday at Ruislip, favorites Robert Emmetts did enough against St Gabriels in the closing stages to once again claim top spot in the London hurling realm.

These two established London hurling powers had met last in the final in 2009 with the ‘Gabriels coming out winners back then, but on Sunday last Robert Emmetts got their revenge with a six point victory, though in reality it was much closer than that.

In the Intermediate hurling final between 2010 runners-up London Michael Cusacks and newcomers, Fulham Irish, the latter crew will be wondering where it all went wrong as they saw ‘Cusacks brilliantly take full advantage of a meltdown by Fulham’ who spilled a six point advantage going into the last quarter and ended up losing by five.

Here to tell us about both games as well as look ahead to next Sunday’s senior football final, is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.

GaelicSportsCast is delighted to partner with New York GAA in bringing you the remaining NY GAA championship games from Gaelic Park in the Bronx, New York.

Over the next 7 weeks, GaelicSportsCast brings you all the latest news from Gaelic Park starting with yesterday’s action which saw NY Offaly hurlers write themselves into the history books.

On Sunday in Gaelic Park, NY Offaly for the first time in the club’s history garnered their 5th title in a row when easily overcoming NY Galway. This magnificent feat sees the club become the second team ever in the history of the New York GAA to do the elusive five-in-a-row.

In the men’s senior football championship meanwhile, Armagh had a good win over 2010 runners-up Cork while in the intermediate championship, last year’s junior champs, Donegal had a comfortable win over Brooklyn/Long Island Gaels.

Here to tell us about Sunday’s action and give a full report on the season to date, GaelicSportsCast is delighted to welcome back excellent NY GAA reporter, Eugene Kyne.

With this year’s Boston Northeast GAA Championship coming down to the wire as just two weekends are left before the ‘Playoffs, it was no surprise that we had some very competitive games last weekend with Galway footballers showing they could be a danger yet to one and all.

Lying in the middle of the table and having had come close on a few occasions, Boston Galway had a great win on Sunday over 2009 champs St Christophers.
Only a point separated them in the end with the winning score coming from Sligo countyman, David Kelly, whose arrival should be a big boost for the men in maroon!

Meanwhile in other senior football action Connamara Gaels held off Mayo, Kerry defeated Armagh Notre Dame while Wolfe Tones beat Cork.

In hurling action we had another thriller, this time between third place Tipperary and bottom of the table Galway.
A last gasp goal saw Tipp salvage a draw against a very lively Galway.

To find out the details of the action and to learn what it all means as we near the end of the regular season, GaelicSportsCast spoke earlier today with Boston Northeast GAA PRO, Rory O’Donnell.

That storied mens football club in Boston, Aidan McAnespies is putting in one hell of a senior football campaign this year as with three rounds left to play before the playoffs they are the only team to remain unbeaten and lead the Boston Northeast Football Championship.

McAnespies had a convincing win over arch rivals Donegal over the weekend, while in other action St Christophers had a good win over struggling Shannon Blues.
Second place Connemara Gaels were held to a draw by Kerry, and Galway had an important win over Mayo.

In the final game of the three game series in the Ladies Football Championship, last year’s champions Tir na nOg proved too strong once more for Boston Shamrocks and as a result of taking three out of three, Tir na nOg are crowned 2011 champions.

In hurling meanwhile, Fr Tom’s beat Galway in a thriller on Saturday while on Sunday, Boston Wexford held on to beat Tipperary.

In Junior C Hurling action Portland beat Worcester to go top of the table.

Here to fill us in on the latest from Boston is Northeast GAA PRO, Rory O’Donnell.

Central Coast put an end to the run of the 2010 double League and Championship winners and they did it with room to spare as six points separated the sides at the final whistle.
In the other semi final last year’s double runners up, Michael Cusack’s booked their place in the hurling league final when having a comfortable 9 point win over Craobh Padraig.

Meanwhile, in the mens football league semi finals, double league and championship winners from last year, Michael Cusacks in a repeat of the 2011 championship final, enjoyed an 8 point victory over Clan na Gael. In the other semi final Cormac McAnallens had an easy win over Young Irelands.

In ladies football, 2011 double champions Central Coast continued their domination with a comprehensive victory over ‘McAnallens while it was a much closer affair in the other semi final with Michael Cusack’s edging out last year’s runners-up, Clan na Gael.

In the first Camogie semi final, in form league leaders, Michael Cusacks had too much for ‘McAnallens while in the other semi final, the top two teams from last year, Central Coast and ‘Clan battled it out once more.
‘Clan had got the better of their rivals in the league final last year but succumbed to ‘Coast later in the championship final, and on Sunday in another great battle, it was ‘Coast again who had the edge with a 7 point victory.

Bad weather continues to plague New South Wales GAA fixtures, as unlike the prior weekend when the last round of the league was cancelled due to poor weather, the games went ahead on Sunday despite further rainy conditions.
More rain is being forecasted for this week in Sydney and GAA officials are hoping the weather clears for the league finals at Mono Park on Sunday.

London were minus a number of regulars due to suspension and injury but nevertheless impressed against plucky Roscommon, who despite falling 10 points behind early in the second half, staged a late rally to leave just two in it at the end. London [22] 1-19 Roscommon [20] 1-17.
Other newcomers from Tipperay and Galway also impressed for London, and, here to tell us about the game is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.

The new tournament saw six men’s teams take to the field last evening with four games down for decision at Ian Galloway Park in Wellington.
Members of the recent mixed sevens winners, T Shirt Time were back in action and they opened their account in a very exciting game with a narrow win over Clonbony Flyers. Clonbony’ though had been in action earlier when battling with Cuchulainn Crew for a two point win. Molly Malones had a comfortable win over Daseys Runners in the first game of the night but in the mostly Kiwi ‘Runners second game, they scored their first ever victory with a great win over Luke Skywalkers.
Here to fill us in on all the details is Wellington GAA Chairman, Donal Kavanagh.

Two strong second half performances in the semi final and final proved decisive for T Shirt Time as they took victory in Wellington GAA’s first Mixed Gaelic Football Sevens tournament of the year last night at Ian Galloway Park, Wellington, New Zealand.
It was another fine evening for the folks in Wellington, not only weather wise, but that once more football was the big winner on the night. Two very exciting semi finals and another great game in the decider saw the large crowd enjoy another successful mixed sevens competition.
In the first semi, T Shirt Time shaded a close opening half with opponents Clonbony Abu but it was the T’s who stepped forward to grab 2 goals and 2 points in the early second half to steer them to a 7 point win. In the second semi final another cracker saw the Monster Munchers in a fierce battle with Molly Malones, but it was the ‘Munchers who claimed the spoils when Niamh Kennedy scored a brilliant individual goal with the last kick of the game.
In the final, another good start from T-Shirt Time saw them score a goal and brace of points inside five minutes but the ‘Munchers came right back into it when Dee Finn goaled and at half time they trailed by a pair of scores 7 (1-04) to 5 (1-02).
But it was the T’s who again showed well soon after the break as a goal and three points put them in pole position once more. The Monster Munchers tried hard to turn the game around but it was not to be as ‘Time pushed on for a 17 (2-11) to 10 (1-07) victory.
Here to tell us more about the semi finals and final, and the other games that took place on the night, is Wellington GAA Chairman, Donal Kavanagh.

The pre Christmas sevens was such a success that there was a call for another mixed sevens competition and so on a lovely evening a fine turnout of 10 teams took to the field for the first week of this four round tournament.
In Group A, newcomers Empire Strikes Back with two games on the night, got off to a great start with a win over Frances Hankeys Crokes in their first match, but just fell short in a goal fest with Molly Malones in a thriller later in the evening. T-Shirt Time impressed in their 16 point win over a depleted Daseys Midnight Runners.
Meanwhile in Group B, Flannagans Flyers got off to another great start beating the mostly Kiwi side, Humans or Badgers while the pre Christmas sevens runners-up, Clonbony Abu were pushed all the way in another great game by the local rugby contingent of Cuchulainn Crew. In the last game of the night, the ‘Flyers were once again on song with a seven point win over the Monster Munchers.
Back once more to tell us about all the action is Wellington GAA Chairman, Donal Kavanagh.

We had plenty of excitement last Sunday in Ruislip as there was both junior and intermediate football titles up for grabs and also two senior semi finals to decide this year’s London football championship pairing. Let’s start with the seniors. Tir Chonaill Gaels were going for their fourth championship win in a row but a shock was on the cards as Parnells proved a tough nut to crack and edged out the champions with a late point giving them an 0-8 to 0-7 victory. Missed goal opportunities in the second half will weigh on Tir Chonaill minds but that is not to take from Parnells victory which sees them back in a London senior final for the first time since 1992. In the other semi final, runners-up for the last two years, Neasden Gaels looked in serious trouble against St Kiernans early on but came back with a vengeance in the second period to completely overwhelm their opponents in a whirlwind of scores and pull away for a comprehensive 10 point win.
In the Intermediate Championship Final, Moindearg there or there abouts for the last four years, finally came good with a deserved four point win over favourites Round Towers on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-07, while in the Junior final we saw a victory for the underdog once more when Garryowen had an emphatic win over Cuchullains by 2-11 (17) to 0-06. Here to tell us all about last Sunday’s action is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.

Last weekend’s North American GAA Championships in Chicago have been hailed the biggest ever in the history of the GAA in America. Beginning last Friday and continuing for three days over the Labour Day weekend, some 7000 spectators gathered at six fields in Gaelic Park to be treated to fantastic competition in 87 games. It turned out to be a great tournament for San Francisco as they carried home 5 national championship wins, with host’s Chicago also doing well garnering 3 titles and Philadelphia teams winning two. GaelicSportsCast caught up with North American County Board (NACB) PRO, Eamonn Kelly during the week and he told us about how things went, and also, commented on the lack of representation from Boston for this year’s national finals.

Of the ten teams in this competition two did not make it through to the Playoffs this year – Brocach and Ale House – these two will now battle it out for the MHC Shield. Brocach though went down fighting as they overcame a dogged Slim’s by four points in a very exciting contest but it was their overall record that cost. The Irish Pub meanwhile, needed to beat McBob’s to make the ‘Playoff’s and they managed to do just but nearly came a cropper when after building up a huge 15 point lead at the break, they allowed McBob’s back into the game and after falling behind by two points nearing the end, they needed a last minute goal to stave off a nightmare defeat. To tell us about those games is MHC’s, Karen Fink.

We had some thrilling football action as well as a big surprise in the hurling in the Northeast GAA Championships over the weekend at Canton, MA. In senior football, Wolfe Tones heading the table, crossed swords with Armagh Notre Dame who needed a result to keep their hopes of adding senior honours to their Intermediate crown of last year. In a fascinating contest that ebbed one way then another, Armagh ND grabbed a late point to secure a merited draw in a game that both sides could have won and lost. In the other big football clash yesterday, another nailbiter saw Aidan McAnespies and ’09 champs St Christopher’s battle to another draw on a scoreline 1-14 (17) each. In senior hurling, championship leaders Tipp had a comprehensive win over Galway, however, Cork pulled off the shock of the weekend, if not the season, when beating last year’s runners up and NACB champions, Wexford.
To tell us all about the weekend’s action is Boston GAA reporter, Rory O’Donnell.

The four day tournament which began last Thursday July 29, saw Boys and Girls U8 – U18 compete in hurling, football and camogie, in teams from Canada and London, who joined New York and North American Board clubs, to participate in this the biggest underage GAA championships outside of Ireland.
Some of the big winners were San Francisco teams who won four titles, along with good wins for New York, and, Rockland NY who captured three titles. In the Inter County U18 football championship between New York, London and NAB, North America took the title off London with a one point win. NY GAA reporter Eugene Kyne reports on some of the finals action he saw yesterday and gave his overall impression of this tournament which he said attracted major local interest. ( No senior action in Gaelic Park this weekend).

Last weekend saw the good folks in Milwaukee, Wisconsin having to cancel their games due to flooding, a week later it’s the turn of the Ozzie brigade as their 5th and final round of the NSW Championships in Sydney was cancelled today also because of flooding. Heavy rain all this week made Mono Park unplayable as the pitch was heavily waterlogged.

Last year’s senior football champions St Christophers suffered a shock defeat to Galway at Canton on Sunday. The loss leaves the champions really having to win their last three games of the regular season in order to qualify for the semi-finals. Meanwhile, ill discipline once more showed its ugly head as in Kerry’s one point win over Connemara Gaels, no less than 5 red cards were issued with three players from Kerry and two from the Gaels shown the line. In hurling Tipp had a comfortable win over Fr Tom’s whose misfortunes continue, while in ladies senior football Tir Na n’Og get revenge for their recent defeat to Shamrocks with a resounding win. To tell us about the details of the games is Boston GAA reporter, Rory O’Donnell.

Clan Na Gael continued their recent good form, when for the first time in two years, they beat Cormac McAnallens in the NSW Senior Mens Football Championship yesterday in Sydney. In the other football game on Sunday, Penrith Gaels triumphed over Young Irelands and this defeat sees last year’s champions YI move to the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, in a repeat of the camogie league final, Central Coast took revenge for that loss when trumping Clan Na Gael in Rd 4 of the championship. In ladies football there was wins for Cormac McAnallens and all conquering, Central Coast who received their stiffest test yet from ‘Cusacks. To tell us about Sunday’s action is NSW GAA Secretary, Mark McGuinness.

This weekends New York GAA championship games were played at two venues, in Gaelic Park and at the new Rockland GAA Fields which opened on Friday in Orangeburg, NY. In Rockland, in the mens senior football championship, Tyrone kept up their recent good form when beating Sligo, while at headquarters in the Bronx, a rejuvenated Donegal accounted for a struggling Kerry. Meanwhile, in a rather tempestuous affair between Cork and Cavan, which saw four players receive red cards, the two extra men for Cork told in the end. In the ladies senior football championship, Na Fianna had a good win over Kerry/Donegal while the Offaly v Galway senior hurling match got rained out. Here to tell us about the action is NY GAA reporter, Eugene Kyne.

It’s gettin’ down to the business end of the Milwaukee Hurling League as last Sunday saw the completion of Rd 8, leaving just two rounds left to play before the MHC Playoffs. The Packy’s versus Tracks game was eagerly awaited as they shared the same record on 5-1. The match-up didn’t disappoint but it was the stylish point scoring Packys who came out victors on a scoreline of 2-17 (23) to Tracks 2-09 (15). McBob’s and Co Clare, also tied on 3-3, produced another thriller with the former coming out four point winners in the end. Meanwhile, league leaders Shamrock Club 6-1, continue to impress with a comfortable win over Slims. Back to tell us about those games is MHC official, Karen Fink.

There was a plethora of shocks at Ruislip for the start of the 2010 London GAA Football and Hurling Championships last weekend. In mens senior football we saw last year’s intermediate champions St Kiernans take on and beat their senior counterparts, Tir Chonail Gaels in a great game. In senior hurling meanwhile, the surprises continued as 2009 senior champs St Gabriels lost out to Sean Treacys by two points in another nail biter, and, as if that wasn’t enough many peoples fancy for this year’s hurling title, Robert Emmetts fell to Kilburn Gaels also by a brace. To tell us about those games and the rest of the football and hurling action over the weekend is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.

There was some thrilling senior football clashes last weekend in the Boston Northeast GAA Championships at Canton, MA. St Christophers who beat Shannon Blues last year to take the championship title, proved best yet again with a come from behind win. In another thriller Aidan McAnespies and Donegal, as they have done so many times in the past, served up another great match with the inform Macs this time having to give way to their great rivals, Donegal. In senior hurling meanwhile Galway had six points to spare over struggling Fr Tom Burkes. Here to describe the action is Boston GAA reporter, Rory O’Donnell.

Last weekend, Fog City Harps added another Ladies Senior Football Championship crown to their long and growing number of San Francisco titles. The recent St Patrick’s Cup winners once again proved too much to handle for Na Saoirse when easing to a 2-14 (20) to 0-02 victory. Fog City will now go on to defend their North American County Board (NACB) title in Chicago this September. In mens senior hurling, the title race heats up as Naomh Padraig moved a step closer to capturing this year’s championship with a 3-11 (20) to 1-8 (11) over Na Fianna. Can they be stopped? Meanwhile in mens senior football, ill discipline got in the way of football as no less than four players were sent off in the two games over the weekend. In Sean Treacys three goal win over ‘Boru, both teams had players sent off with ‘Treacy’s losing one while ‘Boru lost two. The other game between Ulster and SF Celts, saw the Ulster side lose a man to a straight red with the game ending in dramatic fashion as the Celts came back to grab a draw with a controversial goal at the death. Here to tell us all about the weekends events is San Fran GAA Registrar, Andrew Brennan.

St Barnabas had been unbeaten all season long but they saw their winning streak end at the hands of last year’s champions and Birmingham powerhouse, Sean McDermotts. In a very close game, ‘McDermotts held on for the narrowest of victories on a scoreline of 0-10 to 1-6 (9). In the other senior football game, John Mitchels proved much too strong for Four Masters when easing to a 2-19 (25) to 0-05 win. Longtime Warwickshire GAA official and current PRO, George McGuigan gave us a rundown on events and also told us about the Britain Junior Football final clash between winners Lancashire and London at Birmingham on Sunday.

In London last weekend we saw a repeat of last year’s senior football championship final when Neasden Gaels took on the champions Tir Chonaill Gaels in the Tipperary Cup final at Ruislip. Neasden also lost the championship decider to their fierce rivals back in 2008, however they took the spoils and their first Tipp Cup last Saturday. The win should give the North West London club a huge boost of confidence going into the championship which begins this weekend. Also over the weekend in a rather dramatic end to the Mallarkey Cup Final in junior football, Garryowen trumped Dulwich Harps in extra-time. There was wins also for Fr Murphy’s and Kilburn in Division 1 Hurling, while elsewhere on Sunday, London came off second best to Lancashire in this year’s Britain Junior Football Final in Birmingham. Here to tell us about the action is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
