# 602 European Finals Preview

Athlone poster logoIt’s a big weekend for European GAA as Saturday sees the grand finals of this year’s Europe Mens & Ladies Gaelic Football Championships at Athlone Institute of Technology Campus in Athlone, County Westmeath.

Some 27 clubs representing 11 countries will descend on AIT for the GAA Euros which this year coincides with Athlone named as European City of Sport and the European Gathering initiative. There are many firsts for this year’s championships including a brand new men’s format with teams spread into senior intermediate and junior grades.

In the Podcast, we here first from one of the senior men’s favourites Guernsey and their captian Airy Cleere. He talks about the team’s loss last week to Fenagh of Co. Carlow in the Leinster Junior Club Championship and their chances of success in Athlone. We also here from European GAA PRO Brian Clerkin on this year’s big event in Westmeath.
