The Australasian GAA Championships got underway Sunday at Bateman Reserve Park in Perth with good opening rounds for host state Western Australia and also New South Wales.
This competition sees clubs joining forces to form state teams and in Mens Senior Football on Day 1 of this week long championships, 2011 runners-up NSW in their opener, had a comfortable win over Queensland while host’s Western Australia upset reigning champions’ Victoria with a four point victory.
In the Ladies Football Round 1 this winning scenario repeated itself when WA accounted for Victoria and NSW easily defeated defending champs Queensland.
Camogie got underway today while Hurling starts on Tuesday.
