In our podcast today GaelicSportsCast looks at the social good that sport can bring.
Recently Oslo GAA club, in support of a longtime member, decided it was time to take action in support of ‘Bee for Battens’ a charity awareness campaign for Battens Disease – a rare neurodegenerative and fatal disease in young children – by starting the ‘Get Your Kit On’ drive in association with the said member, Tony Heffernan.
The Heffernan family has been struck-down with this rare disease as their children were diagnosed with the disease and sadly one child passed away last year. Since then the Heffernan Family started The Saoirse Foundation Bee for Battens campaign in an effort to raise awareness about the disease.
Oslo is the first club in the history of the GAA History to include a charity logo on their jersey and this Bee for Battens awareness drive is about to be launched in Ireland.
In our podcast today we speak with Tony Herrernan about the Bee for Battens campaign.
