The 9th annual Continental Youth Championships got underway yesterday, Thursday July 26 in the windy city of Chicago at Oak Forest’s Gaelic Park.
This four day festival of Gaelic Sports is the premier GAA Youth Championship in America and since its foundation has grown from strength to strength each year with young Americans of all ages and backgrounds getting a chance to enjoy and show off their skills in all four GAA codes.
Thousands of boys and girls from U6 to U18’s in some 130 teams ranging from places as far apart as New York and San Francisco, with others coming from Canada, are in action with as much at stake as any Super Bowl or All Ireland final prize.
There is an admission fee on both Friday and Saturday of $10 per adult, children under the age of 18 are not charged.
