Liverpool Hope University broke their finals hoodoo to claim their first British Universities GAA Mens Gaelic Football Championship when outgunning rivals and holders, Liverpool John Moore’s University (LJMU) in a thrilling OT game in Manchester on Sunday.
‘Hope, pipped in three previous finals, looked to be staring another defeat in the face by half time but a great second half comeback and a confident OT showing saw them take the title by two points, [11] 1-8 to [9] 0- 9 (in OT).
Meanwhile, in the Division 2 A final, it was the case of another local derby with Glasgow University taking on Glasgow Caly, and, it was the brilliant forward play from Glasgow Uni that helped win the day.
In a revamped Division 2 B competition, the final saw the combined New York Universities outfit impress when proving too much for Aberdeen on a scoreline of [15] 1-12 to [8] 0-8.
