Robert Emmetts look to be a force in London club hurling this year as last weekend, in their Round 4 Division 1 League clash, they looked impressive when coming from behind to beat a fancied St Gabriels.
St Gabriels had been the inform team in the early part of the league and at Ruislip on Sunday it looked like more of the same when they led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the break.
‘Gabriels looked to be in the drivers seat when going further ahead, but Robert Emmet’s, fortified by newcomers in the guise of former Wexford panelist, Peter Atkinson, began to narrow the gap and eventually pulled away to take a [20] 1-17 to [15] 1-12 victory.
In the other Div 1 hurling game, favourites Sean Treacy’s, who had run-up in the championship last year, were upset by Fr Murphy’s [18] 2-12 to [12] 0-12. The win saw Fr Murphy’s take their first honours of the league.
Two goals by the impressive London born Sean Howlin made all the difference here.
To fill us in on these games and also look ahead to this Sunday’s Collins Cup Hurling semi finals, and, talk about the latest from the London football camp ahead of their big All Ireland Qualifier clash with Fermanagh on Saturday, is London GAA Chairman Tommy Harrell.
