#235 Boston Wexford take Sheehan Cup thriller

Happy faces all-round for Boston Wexford hurlers last Sunday after winning the 2011 Sheehan Cup at Canton, MA. (Photo by Rory O'Donnell).

The folks in Boston are getting plenty of value for money these days as there was more thrilling Gaelic sports action at Canton, MA over the weekend.

Two of the three senior football championship matches turned out to be crackers, while in hurling the final of the early season competition, the Sheehan Cup, produced an exciting come from behind win.
In that game, Fr Tom Burke’s looked to have done enough but Wexford came back with a late surge to take the cup by a single point.

In men’s football, unbeaten Wolfe Tones and Connemara Gaels played out a thrilling draw, while Shannon Blues edged out Mayo.
Meanwhile, champions from 2009, St Christopher’s got their season off to winning ways with an impressive performance over Armagh Notre Dame.

Here to tell us about all the action is Boston GAA reporter and Northeast GAA PRO, Rory O’Donnell.
