#223 Great Luxembourg tourno as Den Hague open European hurling championship

European hurlers and camogie players are looking forward to this weekend with no small amount of joy as the start of this year’s European Hurling and Camogie Championship takes place in Den Hague, Holland on Saturday, May 7.

This is the first of four tournaments in the hurling and camogie circuit and European hurling champions Belgium will be anxious to get their season off to a good start. However, three time European champions, hosts Den Hague and Zurich, along with Luxembourg will also have their say.

The Camogie competition sees an unprecendeted 5 teams in action from Zurich, Luxembourg, Paris and two from Belgium battling it out for the opening points of the season.

Meanwhile, the Mens Benelux Football Championship and Ladies European Football competitons got off to a very successful start in Berbourg, Luxembourg last month when record attendence numbers witnessed some stellar football at the FC Berdenia stadium.

In the mens competition and much to the joy of the many locals at the game, Luxembourg regained their tournament title from last year when beating European champions, Den Hague by [13] 1-10 to [9] 0-09 in extra time, while in the ladies final another fine competition saw European champions, Belgium A beat out rivals Paris by [12] 2-06 to [7] 0-07.
