#210 London GAA season opens

Last weekend marked the start of the 2011 London GAA season with Cup football action taking center stage at Ruislip.
This time of year is always a happy occasion both for supporters and players  as Gaelic sports clubs and their followers in the London area get a chance to dust off those winter blues and look forward to another long season ahead.
With the recent increase in Irish immigration to London causing the player transfer list to rise, the season opener turned out to be a very successful occasion as all clubs were able to field teams at this early stage of the year.
Meanwhile, in Derry on Sunday, London hurlers were in with a chance of reaching the Division 3A final.
In attendance was London GAA Chairperson, Tommy Harrell who told us of the narrow loss, and later, spoke of the positive start to the new London season.
