#197 John Moores back to winning ways

Liverpool John Moores University, the team that won four UK championships between 2006-2009, returned to winning ways yesterday when taking this year’s British Universities Mens Football Championship, beating defending champions Napier University of Edinburgh at Pairc na hEireann, Birmingham.
This Division 1 decider produced a thrilling game with the Liverpool side just doing enough in the second half to hold on for a slender one point margin of victory 9 [0-09] to 8 [0-08].
In the Division 2 final it was another cracker of a game with this time the spoils going to Welsh side University of Banger when they saw off John Moore’s B outfit by 4 [0-04] to 3 [0-03].
Not to be out-done the final of the 17 team, Division 3 also turned out to be a thriller between Scottish side, University of Glasgow and Teesside University with the Scots landing victory by the minimum once more; final score 8 [1-05] to 7 [1-04].
Here to tell us about the finals and how the tournament went overall is Community Devolpment Officer for British Universities GAA, Shane O’Hanlon.
