#190 London’s positive start in Allianz League

While it may not be time just yet to pop open the champagne following London’s easy win over big ball minnows Kilkenny in Round 1 of the Allianz Football League Division 4 at Ruislip, London on Sunday, the manner in which the home side disposed of the opposition could mark the beginning of a rather interesting competition for the Londoners.
The Cats are usually the whipping boys of the League’s bottom tier and so it was no real surprise that London took the spoils but holding the visitors scoreless in the first half while racking up 13 points and looking trim and eager in the process left a positive impression. While a somewhat more competitive second period followed, London ran out comfortable winners 16 (0-16) to 2 (0-02).  London step up in class on Saturday when facing Connacht champions Roscommon in Round 2 at Ruislip.
London hurlers meanwhile, in preparation for their Rd 1 Allianz 3 A clash with visitors Meath on Sunday, headed to South West Ireland for challenge games against Kerry and St Finbars of Cork. Kerry, useful performers in hurling, were beaten by London 22 (4-10) to 19 (4-07) while against the ‘Bars an impressive display saw the Metropolitans come way with a seven point victory 26 (5-11) to 19 (2-13).
Here to tell us about the action and look ahead to this weekend’s games at Ruislip is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
