Stanford had a comprehensive win over rookie hurling college University of California Davis at Treasure Island, Saturday for the first game in this year’s Northern California Hurling Collegiate Championship. The more experienced Stanford hurling squad won this inaugural competition in 2009 and despite the best efforts of the opposition, had little trouble dispensing the newcomers on a scoreline of 7-14 (35) 0-04.
After the game GaelicSportsCast caught up with two of the players for their reaction on the match. Stanford captain Sam Svobodo, despite his team not having the best of preparations was very happy with the outcome, while Davis co-chairman, Mitch Hennessy praised UC Davis’s effort and said that the experience will sharpen focus for their next game against the same opposition in two weeks time.
