An event that might have very positive results for the continuing growth of Gaelic football in Europe took place early this month in Ireland. We are talking here about the recent week long tour of two French Gaelic footballs clubs, Lugdunum CLG from Lyon and the Tolosa Gaels from Toulouse.
This was a first for both clubs who are new to Gaelic football and the trip was organised to grow a greater understanding of the game and the people who play the sport. In between visits to Newgrange and Connemara, members of the French clubs joined forces to play against Irish clubs such as Kilcock in Kildare, Na Piarsaigh in Limerick City and also against unique opposition at the University of Limerick – a selection of International students.
Back in France after the tour, GaelicSportsCast talked to Toulouse club President, Guillaume Kerrien and Lyon player, Pierre Adroguer about their experience of playing football for the first time in Ireland and what it will mean for their newly formed clubs.
