Fullen Gaels make history

A Manchester sports club …no, not the ‘United’ variety, made history over the weekend as Fullen Gaels Hurling Club won their first ever All Britain Club Championship last Sunday at Pairc na hEireann in Birmingham.
In the final, Fullen Gaels, the only hurling club in Manchester and Lancashire, were up against the intermediate champions from London, Bros Pearse. Though it looked rosy for the ‘Gaels early on, the end turned out to be anything but as a late surge by Bros Pearse made for a nail biting last few minutes for the historymakers.
Fullen Gaels led by 5 points at half time and a goal soon after the break looked to have booked them their place into the Munster Junior club championship. However, the London side came right back into the contest with two late goals to make for an exciting finish, but the Gaels held their nerve as a brace of points sealed victory.
Final score: Fullen Gaels 2-13 (19) to Bros Pearse 2-08 (15).
