With summer around the corner, a balmy Spring evening in Wellington, NZ, greeted the first round of this year’s Gaelic Football Mixed Sevens at Ian Galloway Park on Wednesday. Some 150 players took to the Kiwi sod over 8 games and there was some very exciting football on offer.
This tournament sees both men and ladies joining forces on each of the 14 teams in the competition and it was last year’s winner’s Clonbony Abu who looked well up for it once more in Group B with the Welly’s Wellies and The Frances Hankeys going well also.
In Group A, Marist’s Muscle Farm (nice name!) playing two games proved best with two wins while Kelly’s Knights and Mallone FC lie close behind in second and third. Here with a rundown on all the games from last night is Wellington GAA President, Donal Kavanagh.
