Wisconsin, the beer producing state of America is quietly brewing another favourite passion, the Gaelic sport of hurling. Over the past several years the city of Madison, the state’s capitol, has seen hurling take root amongst the population of this four lake city much like its eastern neighbour, Milwaukee has seen over the past decade. Founded back in 2006, the Madison HC, who affiliated with the North American Gaelic Athletic Association (NAGAA) in the Spring, recently received a huge boost when the club did well in their very first North American Playoffs in the Junior C Shield competition in Chicago. Boosted by this achievement, Madison HC hopes to grow membership and is confident the sport of hurling will continue to prosper in Madison in the future.
