This weekend should be a very special one for the ‘Wild Geese’ hurlers of Lakenheath Hurling Club. Who are the Wild Geese? Well they happen to be personnel of the Liberty Wing of the US Air Force on Lackenheath Air Base in Suffolk England, and, this Saturday Oct 16 they get to host their first ever hurling tournament. The club was founded last year by Massachusetts native, Major Tim Neylon, who four years ago, was introduced to the game in Colorado by the Denver Gaels. In the lead up to the weekend’s tournament christened ‘Hurlapalooza’ , Maj Neylon spoke to GaelicSportsCast about the new club and his efforts to get hurling going on the base.
