Last Sunday in Ruislip turned out to be a historic day for Kilburn Gaels as they won their first ever London senior hurling championship title. The hurling decider brought together a novel pairing in that Kilburn and their opponents Sean Treacys, had never met in a London hurling final. The game from a neutrals perspective turned out to be a disappointment as once Kilburn crashed home two early goals they never looked like losing and coasted home for a 3-11 (20) to 0-07 victory. The Intermediate final on the other hand, between London’s oldest hurling club and favourites, Bros Pearse and newest club, Michael Cusacks , was a lot more competitive. ‘Cusacks lead by 0-2 at the break but two second half goals by Bros Pearse edged them in front and they held on for dear life at the end to win by a goal, on a scoreline of 3-08 (17) to 2-08 (14). Here once more to tell us all about the action is Wexfordman and London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
