All eyes will be on Rockland GAA this weekend as the new state of the art facility, located just north of Manhattan, hosts the final of this year’s FBD League at 4pm on Sunday. The holders are the Mayo football team and they will be coming to the brand new playing fields in Rockland County to defend their title against the home side, New York. GAA President Christy Cooney will be on hand to officially open the new facilities which include three pristine playing fields with floodlit capacity. This progressive GAA club is pulling out all the stops to make it a memorable occasion what with live concerts before and after the big game Sunday, a host of exciting pre big-match games such as the unique pairing of the Ladies New York All Stars taking on their counterparts, the North American All Stars. So, it promises to be a fantastic weekend for all Gaelic sports followers throughout the whole region. The Mayo team, with their new manager, James Horan, arrive today Thursday to the city and here to fill us in on all the activities over the coming days is Rockland GAA Field Development Chairman, Paul Rowley.
