‘Gaels and ‘Mitchells into Warwickshire hurling final

Will it be a case of more silverware for John Mitchell's hurlers this year? (Photo courtesy of John Mitchells Hurling Club).

Last weekend at Pairc na h Eireann in Birmingham we had semi final action to decide this year’s Warwickshire senior hurling championship final pairing. It turned out to be a disappointing day for neutrals as easy wins was the order of the day.
Manchester’s Fullen Gaels had a very comfortable time in their semi final against Erin Go Bragh as they scored at will to run out 1-19 (22) to 0-05 winners. Indeed, things got worse for the second semi final as local champion’s John Mitchell’s strolled past Coventry on a scoreline of 6-15 to 0-07. However, it wasn’t all one way traffic in the second semi final of this year’s Warwickshire intermediate football championship when we saw Wolverhampton’s St Mary’s take on Coventry side, St Finbarrs. This one was close all through and just when it looked like St Mary’s might get the win, a late goal from St Finbarrs secured a draw. The replay takes place in Pairc na hEireann next Sunday, October 3rd. In the other intermediate football semi final, it was a case of another one sided affair with John Mitchells proving too strong for St Brendan’s of Manchester’s when winning by 2-15 (21) to 0-07.
