#149 Kilburn oust champions while ‘Treacys shock ‘Emmets

Last Sunday’s London senior hurling championship semi finals at Ruislip, was a day for the underdogs as Kilburn Gaels knocked off last year’s champions St Gabriels while Sean Treacy’s edged out the fancied Robert Emmetts. In the first semi final, 10 minutes into the second half, Gabriels had pulled back a first half deficit to a single point but that was as good as it got for the champions as a 2-05 burst from Kilburn put them in the clear to run out comfortable 2-17 (23) to 0-10 winners. The other semi was a much closer affair with Treacy’s goalkeeper, Michael Walsh stellar between the posts. His side showed great spirit and determination nearing the final stages as they edged in front and held on for a 2-13 (19) to 1-14 (17) victory. In the two intermediate hurling semi finals, young club Michael Cusacks were too strong for Clann Na Gael on a scorline of 3-17 (26) to 1-7 (10),while Bros Pearse in another exciting encounter, outgunned Thomas McCurtains by 2-09 (15) 2-07 (13). Here to tell us all about the games is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
