It turned out to be a fantastic weekend for Birmingham club Sean McDermott’s, as last Sunday at Pairc na hEireann in Birmingham, saw them take their 5th Warwickshire Senior Football Championship title in a row. However, this latest win had to be earned as the challenger’s, St Barnabas of Nottingham really put it up to the champions in one of the best county finals seen in the West Midlands region in many a day. In a close affair, it took every ounce of McDermott’s experience and craft to overcome last year’s intermediate champs, where a late flurry of points secured victory on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-11.
