We had plenty of excitement last Sunday in Ruislip as there was both junior and intermediate football titles up for grabs and also two senior semi finals to decide this year’s London football championship pairing. Let’s start with the seniors. Tir Chonaill Gaels were going for their fourth championship win in a row but a shock was on the cards as Parnells proved a tough nut to crack and edged out the champions with a late point giving them an 0-8 to 0-7 victory. Missed goal opportunities in the second half will weigh on Tir Chonaill minds but that is not to take from Parnells victory which sees them back in a London senior final for the first time since 1992. In the other semi final, runners-up for the last two years, Neasden Gaels looked in serious trouble against St Kiernans early on but came back with a vengeance in the second period to completely overwhelm their opponents in a whirlwind of scores and pull away for a comprehensive 10 point win.
In the Intermediate Championship Final, Moindearg there or there abouts for the last four years, finally came good with a deserved four point win over favourites Round Towers on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-07, while in the Junior final we saw a victory for the underdog once more when Garryowen had an emphatic win over Cuchullains by 2-11 (17) to 0-06.  Here to tell us all about last Sunday’s action is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
