It was quarter finals day for New York junior and intermediate footballers last Sunday at Gaelic Park in the Bronx. The most exciting game of the day was the second intermediate quarter final between Dublin and Kerry. In an 8 goal thriller, Dublin looked to be pulling away in the second period, however, 14 man NY Kerry produced a brilliant rally with four second half goals, but, in the end the Dubs held on for a one point win. They now play Armagh in their semi final in two weeks time. The other intermediate quarter final saw Astoria Gaels prove too much for Brooklyn/Long Island, and, Astoria will now play Mayo in the second semi final. In the two junior quarters, where young American born players featured prominently, St Raymond’s beat St Barnabas, while Cavan edged NY Celtics. Here to tell us all about the games is NY GAA reporter Eugene Kyne.
