Over the weekend in Ruislip we had the 5th and final round of this year’s London GAA Senior Hurling Championship. Two more teams qualified for the semi finals in September where in the most important game to decide semi placings we saw Sean Treacy’s defeat Fr Murphy’s by 4 points on a scoreline of 1-12 (15) to 1-08 (11). Treacy’s did last year’s champs St Gabriels a favour, for despite Gabriels loss in a very close game in their match to Kilburn Gaels 1-14 (17) to 1-13(16), they nevertheless qualified for the semi finals. Though they had finished level on points with Fr Murphy’s, they had already beaten them earlier in the season. Robbert Emmetts, already in the semis, meanwhile had a facile 4-31 (43) 1-04 (7) win over last year’s intermediate champions, Granuaille who now unfortunately return to the lower grade. There was also semi finals in both Intermediate and Junior football down for decision. Moindearg intermediates beat North London Shamrocks by 1-08 (11) to 1-05 (8) while Round Towers accounted for Heston Gaels in the other semi, 0-12 to 0-4. Finally in the Junior semis, Cuchullains won out over Robert Emmetts, 1-16 (19) to 2-05 (11) while Garryowen on Sunday beat St Anthonys 0-10 to 0-06. Here to tell us about last weekend’s games is London GAA Chairman, Tommy Harrell.
