It was a joyous day for the New York Offaly hurling club yesterday, Sunday Aug 22, as they took their fourth senior hurling championship title in a row in this year’s hurling final at Gaelic Park in the Bronx. This was a repeat of last year’s conclusion to the hurling season, and it was Offaly again, who in a close match, proved too much for Tipperary with a superb defensive display laying the foundation for a deserved 0-16 to 0-11 victory. We also saw the decider in the ladies senior football championship when last year’s champions Na Fianna once again proved their worth as they overcame an early Cavan lead to push on for a 4 point win on a scorline of 0-17 to 1-10 (13). Here to tell us about both finals and the important Kerry v Leitrim football clash is NY GAA reporter, Eugene Kyne.
