In the New York Senior Football Championship yesterday in Gaelic Park in the Bronx, there was plenty of surprises as 14 man Leitrim held on to beat championship contenders Cork, while Cavan ambushed Kerry in a 10 point victory. Donegal meanwhile got a badly needed boost when proving too strong for bottom of the table, Sligo, as Tyrone got their first point of the championship when forcing a draw with champions Down. In hurling, in a repeat of last year’s final, Offaly once more shaded Tipperary. Here to tell us all about the action is New York GAA reporter, Eugene Kyne.
