Guernsey in the Channel Islands held their 13th Seven-a-side Mens Gaelic Football Tournament last Saturday. As well as local island neighbours Jersey, taking part in this annual tournament, which also doubled as Rd 3 of the North West Regional European Championships, several teams from France made the journey north for the competition. Guernsey, boosted by recent Irish immigrants to their small island paradise, were able to field two teams. The Guernsey A side ran out winners, giving Guernsey Gaels an unassailable lead going into the last and final round in Paris, thus the club become 2010 North West Regional Champions. Here to tell us about this year’s tournament, the Guernsey Gaels club and a bit about the island, is club Chairman John Payne and Secretary Ger Doyle.
