The start of the Northeast Division Championships on Memorial Day weekend is always a much anticipated event in GAA circles in the city of Boston. There was plenty of action to whet the appetite for Gaelic football fans on Sunday last as there was five senior games down for decision. Aidan MacAnespies got off to a nervy start with their o-6 to 0-5 win over Mayo, a game the westerners could have won. Last year’s finalists Shannon Blues, though edging Kerry by just two points, looked bright and will be a force to contend with again this year. Elsewhere, Donegal had an impressive win over Armagh Notre Dame, Wolfe Tones were too good for Cork while Connemara Gaels had a narrow one point win over Galway. To tell us all about the action is Boston GAA reporter, Rory O’Donnell.
