The all Spanish team of St Agustin caused something of a shock in Round 3 of the Iberian Football Championship last weekend. The newcomers to Gaelic football recovered from a first round defeat to go unbeaten for the remainder of their games and take this Madrid tournament. These girls, who hail from northern Madrid, are mostly soccer and Olympic handballer’s and are a shining example of the growth of the game amongst international women athletes. They will surely be ones to watch for the future. In the mens competition, Barcelona who came out winners over Valencia in extra-time, now top the table in the Iberian Championship. Telling us about the tournament is Valencia GAA Secretary, Gavin Hackett.
